July 26, 2019- According to a recent survey, 37% of Americans go online using their smartphone. 58% of those surveyed were between the ages of 18-29, and 47% were between the ages of 30-49. This survey displayed that it is not only young people using their phones to access the internet, but middle aged users and seniors as well. Due to these increasing trends in all age groups, smartphone users are more likely to use their mobile device to go on the internet. Why Patients are Giving up on Portals

June 26, 2019. A recent study published by HealthAffairs surveyed 2,325 insured patients about their use of patient portals. The study found that 63% of the sample did not access their portal. The most common reason being that 70% of patients prefer to speak directly to their physician. Others found there was no need to check their portal, or did not have access. The demographic of those who have never checked their portal is largely made up of senior males receiving Medicaid, or lacking an insurance provider.
